It's a Cultural Thing - or is it?

Michael Collins is a member of the Irish Traveller

community, who has been an advocate of Traveller

human rights for over 20 years.  He is an actor, writer and performer, known nationally and internationally for his film and T.V. roles .  Michael’s plays explore crucial and sometimes controversial aspects of the Traveller community. In It’s a Cultural Thing, or is it?  he uses his own life story as a metaphor for the history of Traveller culture and history.

Micheal's performance will take place on Monday evening, 30th May 2016.

Access and the looking glass is the innovative way of showcasing access and widening participation through visual representation. This exhibition consists of four strands incorporating academic posters, EAN milestones and two exhibits from our conference partners National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and Institute of Art, Design and Technology, (IADT.)

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Sunday 29th May at 16:00.

EAN Milestones in History

Creative Collaborations:  Communicating and connecting through the visual arts

The National College of Art and Design Dublin and the University of the Arts London will collaborate in showcasing artwork from current students, graduates and researchers who are currently engaged in the NCAD’s Access and the University of the Arts London’s RAS (Retain, Achieve, Succeed) Programmes.

NCAD’s showcase will include a spoken word performance from Temper-Mental MissElayneous, who is a first year undergraduate student in Fine Art along with a short film exploring dyslexia by John Fogarty, who is a final year Visual Communication student.

Fine Art graduates Eileen Kenny, Neil Dunne, Pat Curran and Roisin Power Hackett are currently artists-in-residence in the Clancy Quay Studios in Dublin.  They will showcase painting, print, sculpture and a performance from their current practice.  Recent NCAD graduate Mark Holborn will collaborate with Pat Curran on a special commission for the conference exhibition.

A series of drawings from the current research project being undertaken by Ilga Leimanis as part of the RAS Programme will examine Access to drawing skills: developing confidence, communication and creativity. This work will be underpinned by a Drawing Workshop that will be open to delegates as part of the conference programme.

We are conscious that the EAN Jubilee Conference Programme is tightly packed hence we would like to give our delegates the opportunity to relax and recharge their batteries by using the onsite gym and pool facilities.

All participants of the conference will receive one complimentary gym pass!
